SL (Stockholms Lokaltrafik) is the authority in Stockholm Sweden for public transport. SL is now showing interest for microchipping the users of public transport in Stockholm instead of using tickets. Karl Rydahl who is responsible of transport solutions in SL says:

– If we could chip people it would be an advantage because then the people could leave their wallets and key at home.  SL wants services that is easy to use and where we can se that the ticket is valid. It would also mean that SL doesn’t have to issue plastic card for the travelers.

The fitness centre SATS is already using microchip on some of their customers. The customers simply just have to raise their hand in front of a scanner when they enter the gym instead of a card.
